Shift: 60-75 Hours bi-weekly

Rate of Pay: CA$23.00-CA$25.00 per hour

Summary

The Cook will primarily work in the Inii Healing House (IHH) kitchen. IHH is a pre-treatment program that houses up to 10 residents at a time. The Cook will serve meals to the IHH residents and deliver dinner meals to the local shelter & detox programs. The Cook will create daily meal plans under the Canadian nutritional food guide, considering traditional Blackfoot cuisine, and specialized individual diets. The Cook will oversee all kitchen operations and will follow standard safety practices. The cook will create and maintain inventory records and reconsider monthly budgets allotted for each program. The cook will supervise one .5 kitchen support worker.

Role responsibilities and duties

· Supervise the part-time kitchen support worker

· Plan and prepare meals for large groups

· Maintain inventory records of food, supplies, and equipment

· estimate food requirements and costs, and monitor and order supplies

· Purchase groceries

· Reconcile the budget

· Ensuring the freshness of ingredients

· Weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients according to recipes

· Baking, grilling, frying, boiling, and steaming foods

· Arranging and delivering meals

· Cleaning work areas, equipment, utensils, and dishes

· Developing and testing new recipes and menu items.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

· Reliable, compassionate, and works collaboratively within a team environment

· Organized, solution-focused, takes initiative

· High level of verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

· Ability to create and maintain Word documents and Excel sheets

· Knowledge of Piikani/Blackfoot Culture and Language is an asset

· Manage key stakeholder relationships

Qualifications

· Valid food handling certificate required

· Experience working with vulnerable populations an asset

· Proficient in MS Office 365 and Excel

· Frequent travel is required.
