About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and skilled On-Call Crisis Worker to join our team. This role provides immediate support to individuals and families experiencing emotional, mental health, or safety related crises. The On-Call Crisis Worker responds to urgent situations by phone, virtually, or in person (depending on the nature of the crisis and agency protocols).
This position is ideal for someone who is calm under pressure, confident in crisis intervention skills, and committed to helping Nation members navigate challenging moments with dignity and respect.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to crisis calls, texts, or in person requests during scheduled on-call shifts person requests during scheduled on call shifts‑person requests during scheduled on‑call shifts
- Conduct risk assessments related to mental health, suicide, self-harm, substance use, family violence, or other safety concerns harm, substance use, family violence, or other safety concerns‑harm, substance use, family violence, or other safety concerns
- Provide immediate emotional support, de-escalation, and crisis stabilization

- Collaborate with internal teams, community resources, emergency services, and support networks when required
- Maintain clear, accurate, and confidential documentation
- Adhere to agency policies, ethical guidelines, and trauma-informed practices informed practices
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or related field
- Experience in crisis intervention, mental health support, or counselling is preferred
- Strong assessment and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm, empathetic, and objective in high stress situations stress situations‑stress situations
- Knowledge of local community resources and support services
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (if in-person response is required)
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
