Summary
Aakom-Kiyii Health Services is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health Care Aide (HCA). The Health Care Aide (HCA) provides personal care and support services to individuals undergoing medical detoxification within Aakom-Kiyii Health Services (AKHS). The HCA assists clients with daily living activities, supports physical and emotional needs, and contributes to a safe, respectful, and trauma-informed healing environment. This role involves health monitoring, documentation, and collaborative care, all while maintaining strict confidentiality and promoting client dignity.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with daily living activities including bathing, grooming, mobility, and nutrition.
  • Perform basic health monitoring such as vital signs and blood glucose checks.
  • Support clients in maintaining personal independence while responding to physical or emotional needs.
  • Support the intake process by assisting with documentation and gathering basic clientm information under supervision
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records and complete daily communication logs.
  • Assist with the preparation of referral forms and follow-up activities as needed.
  • Participate in weekly case consultations and daily debriefing meetings.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with clients, team members, health professionals, and substitute decision makers.
  • Assist clients with organizing personal affairs as needed.
  • Provide emotional support in a non-judgmental, client-centered manner.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks including cleaning and cooking in accordance with program guidelines.
  • Adhere to infection prevention, safety, and confidentiality protocols at all times.
  • Respond calmly and appropriately to crisis or emergency situations.

Required Qualifications:
Education:
• Completion of an accredited Health Care Aide program.
• Registered or eligible for registration with the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory.
• Additional training in First Aid, CPR, Non-Violence Crisis Intervention, or Trauma-Informed Care, and Security Training is an asset.
Knowledge:
• Understanding detoxification, mental health, and trauma-informed care principles.
• Familiarity with case management, documentation, and referral processes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications.
Others
• Ability to commute/relocate:
• Brocket, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
• Experience: Detox/ Mental Wellness: 1 year (preferred)
