Job description: System Navigator
Pay: CA$25.00 per hour
Classification: Full Time/ Part-time Contract (fiscal year-end)
Shift: 12-hour shifts: 12 am to 12 pm; Saturday/Sunday; Day and Night two-week rotation.

Summary
The System Navigator works out of the 24-hour harm reduction shelter. The System Navigator will be
the first point of contact for services and will help participants understand local resources and
community supports available. The System Navigator gauges willingness for recovery, assisting with
applications and referrals to the continuum of care model positively impacting health and wellness
outcomes. The System Navigator will offer compassionate and empathetic services to all
participants through a trauma-informed lens and person-centered approach.

Role and Responsibilities Duties
• Interview clients, obtain history, prepare intake reports and forms
• Case Management; filing, assessments, applications
• Seek housing alternatives through a housing-first approach
• Provide transportation as needed
• Assist participants with organizing personal affairs as requested
• Attend/facilitated case consultation as needed
• Liaise with program coordinators as requested
• Chart and report on client activities daily
• Participate in daily debriefing at shift change
• Assist participants in Traditional healing as requested
• Confidentially offering transparent support – only high clearance access to client file
notes/info (Program Leader/Manager).
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
• Reliable, compassionate, and works collaboratively within a team environment.
• Organized, solution-focused, takes initiative
• High level of verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to translate complex documents into understandable terms
• Knowledge of Piikani/Blackfoot Culture and Language is an asset
• Manage participant relationships and large caseload
• Sound Knowledge and ability to demonstrate a practical application of the following
techniques are considered an asset: crisis intervention, de-escalation skills, people
management skills, conflict intervention and resolution.

Qualification
• Post-secondary Degree or Diploma an asset
• First Aid, CPR, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Non-Violent Crisis
Intervention (NVDI), Trauma-Informed Care, Security, and WHMIS training are assets
• Knowledge and experience in mental health or counselling
• Experience working with vulnerable populations
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s license free from restrictions
• Proficient in MS Office 365
• Frequent travel is required.
