Position:                Dietitian/Nutritionist

Program:             Community Health

Classification:      Part Time – Term Position (0.6 FTE)

Wage: $45/hr

Working with a wide range of individuals from prenatal to elderly care primary duties will include planning and providing presentations, individual/group counseling, and education programs to promote healthy living & disease prevention.  The Dietitian will implement and evaluate individualized nutrition care plans to prevent, treat and manage disease and promote a healthier lifestyle.

Duties of the Dietician/Nutritionist will include (but are not limited to):

  • Collaborate with AKHS staff to identify community needs
  • Provided nutrition coaching and expertise one on one to clients within the health center and on accompanied home visits
  • Complete client nutrition assessments
  • Develop, implement and evaluate client nutrition care plans.
  • Plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings.
  • Content development (blogs, handouts, presentations, and social media content)
  • Act as a liaison between Health Care Professionals and the Community
  • Coordinates activities with AKHS health professionals and interagency departments including: Elders Center, Schools/Daycare/Headstart programs, etc.
  • Assist AKHS programs in choosing healthier food options
  • Respects traditional First Nation practice protocol(s) when engaging with Piikani members and clients

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Foods and Nutrition or an equivalent from an accredited Canadian University
  • Two (2) years related experience
  • Certified Diabetes Educator Certificate would be an asset
  • Registered with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA)
